The Ten-Year Educational Plan of the department of Atlántico 2024 – 2034 was launched, which seeks to achieve high educational levels with the aim of closing the inequality gap that exists between the Caribbean region and the center of the country.

This is a plan based on the needs of the educational sector related to aspects such as improving infrastructure, expanding coverage in pre-kindergarten, kindergarten and bilingualism.

“We have taken a tour of the different headquarters of the department’s institutions where it was concluded that there is a deterioration in several of them, so we began with the physical improvement of these structures,” highlighted the Secretary of Education of Atlántico, Leyton Barrios. Towers.

Among the items of this project is also the work that is being carried out in the teaching of the second language (bilingualism), as well as teacher training, who will be in charge of bringing this knowledge to boys, girls, adolescents in schools with a preparation not only for their studies in higher education, but for life.

“We began the process of training our teachers in bilingualism. Recently, 70 of them benefited from being trained in the English language through the Peace Corps, who have been one of our allies in this process,” the official added.

Governor Eduardo Verano maintained that teacher training processes must be strengthened with studies and training, as it will be the spearhead for students to receive all this training. “In the end, our children and young people will be the beneficiaries of this learning in which we will be able to improve the educational levels of our institutions,” he noted.

It is important to highlight that, in the Ten-Year Education Plan -PDE, it is also proposed to work on updating the PEI (Institutional Educational Project) and curricular plans to adjust them to the new international models.

According to Layton, another of Governor Eduardo Verano’s big bets for 2024 is to register 1,500 children up to the age of 5 in the enrollment system and to date the progress has been significant. For this reason, work has been done to expand the coverage of pre-kindergarten and garden grades.

“When we arrived at the Ministry of Education we started with 19 children enrolled for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten grades, today we are reaching half of what was expected and in 4 years we hope to have incorporated at least 4,000 children into the system,” said Barrios.

The departmental administration leads actions in order to guarantee quality education, with the required levels and results that can be demonstrable over time.

“We have already started the task and we have been working hand in hand with the entire team of the Ministry of Education, with the principals, coordinators, teachers and parents to make the roadmap that will make possible in the next ten years raise the educational level of the schools in the department of Atlántico,” said Barrios.

WORK TABLES

To carry out this project, the Certified Territorial Entity (CET) Atlántico will hold working groups with the different sectors of the economy. Meetings will be held with the unions of the department and the region, public and private secondary, basic and higher education sectors, principals, teachers, teaching managers, union associations, parents and the general community.

“We are extending the invitation to the unions, to the entire academic community of the department of the Atlantic and the Caribbean region to contribute their ideas and make this ten-year plan a reality so that our department and the Caribbean region can achieve high educational levels” said the Secretary of Education, Leyton Barrios.
