Through the flagship program of the University of Magdalena that has been extended in different municipalities of the department, the town of Pijiño received a visit from the rector Pablo Vera Salazar who moved with an interdisciplinary team to commit to the highest local authority, to convert the scholarship program into public policy.

Dr. Vera Salazar recognized the effort and commitment of the first authority of Pijiño del Carmen catching up with Talento Magdalena and honoring his word with the signing of the agreement that guarantees the support and permanence of 90 beneficiaries of this program.

In addition, he proposed turning Talento Magdalena into public policy. “We hope, with the councilors and the support of everyone, that it becomes public policy so that the next leaders maintain this effort that we make together (…) Mayor, you are not “He is alone, he has the University of Magdalena, which believes that education is the best investment.”

Given this support, the first authority of the municipality of Sur del Magdalena, Orlando Machado, thanked the Rector of the Alma Mater for the visit and how important it is for Pijiño del Carmen to have high-quality future professionals.

Edgar Gutiérrez Delgado is the father of Gisela Gutiérrez Paternina, who is a beneficiary of Talento Magdalena and will enter the fifth semester of the Nursing program, he expressed his joy for the good news that Pijiño del Carmen receives and joined to the request of the rector Pablo Vera Salazar to convert this program into public policy.

Talento Magdalena was created 7 years ago as a free and regionalization strategy of university education, which promotes effective access to higher education for young people from Magdalen who stand out for their academic merit.

There are now 90 students who are beneficiaries of Talento Magdalena from Pijiño del Carmen, who are currently studying academic programs such as Enfironwork, civil engineering, psychology, business administration, medicine, among others.

Currently, Victor Hugo Gomez Serrano is the first graduate of the program Public Accounting beneficiary of this inclusion strategy, which promotes access to higher education for young people from departmental educational institutions.
