Seven people were killed and two more injured on Tuesday night in the municipality of Rionegro. The Governor of Antioquia headed a Security Council in this Municipality.

The authorities have offered a 100 million pesos reward for anyone who helps with information to clarify the situation. According to the governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón, there is a criminal investigation team that came from Bogotá together with the Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the situation and find those responsible.

For now, the authorities have said that the victims were from different regions of the country, they had arrived in the municipality a few weeks ago, rented a property and were apparently involved in construction activities. The authorities believe that the group responsible for perpetuating this act would have arrived from another area. It is expected that in the next few hours the first results of this situation will be available.

So far this year, homicides in the department have decreased by 7.5% compared to the same period last year. The East is one of the seven subregions that show a decrease in homicides with 16.2% fewer cases than in 2023.
