Via Variety they report that Kate Beckinsale, Scott Eastwood and James Cromwell will star ‘Stolen Girl’new thriller directed by James Kent (‘The day that will come‘) whose pre-production has just begun in the Apulia region of southern Italy, where most of the principal photography will take place.
The film will be inspired by the true story of Maureen Dabbagh, an American woman who embarked on a years-long search for her daughter after the girl was kidnapped by her father and taken illegally to the Middle East.
Set in 1993 in Ohio, Maureen’s ex-husband Karim sneaks their 6-year-old daughter Amina out of the country. After years of failed attempts to find her, Maureen crosses paths with a professional retriever of internationally abducted children who promises to help her find Amina in exchange for her cooperation. Maureen finally manages to locate her ex-husband and Amina in Beirut, where she will face the most difficult decision of her life.
Kent, who has just directed a couple of episodes of ‘Fellow Travelers’ from Showtime, will direct the film from a script by Rebecca Pollock and Kas Graham. The project will come to Voltage Pictures and will be produced by Andrea Iervolino, Monika Bacardi, Frida Torresblanco, Scott Lambert and Luca Matrundola, with the Italian ILBE as executive producer.
