‘Blade’, from Marvel Studios, is left without a director again

There is no doubt that Blade It is one of the most chaotic projects in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Every time we have news of the movie starring Mahershala Ali They are not positive, and this is no exception. As reported The Wrapthe Marvel Studios feature film has been left without a director again after the departure of Yann Demange.

The aforementioned media indicates that Demange left the project a few weeks ago and that his departure from Marvel Studios was on friendly terms. However, the reasons that led to his departure have not been specified.

Thus, Blade has lost its second director in just a handful of years. Let us remember that the film was announced during Comic-Con 2019, but only during the pandemic did it become known that the direction would be the responsibility of Bassam Tariq. However, in September 2022, the aforementioned stepped aside. At the time it was argued that it was due to creative differences, although Marvel indicated that it occurred due to constant changes in the filming schedule.

Demange took the reins of the project in November of that same year and arrived accompanied by Michael Starrbury to write a new script. But it is evident that this vision has not prospered either, leading to the departure of the filmmaker. For now, no potential candidates to replace him are mentioned.

Bladeagain without a director: What will happen to the film?

The information that has come to light in recent hours indicates that Mahershala Ali remains linked to the project and that Marvel Studios has not changed the release date of Blade. At least for now. Let us remember that the film, which was originally going to hit theaters in 2023, was initially postponed until 2024 and then until the 7th. November 2025.

Although no modifications have been announced yet, it is speculated that the most likely scenario is that Blade be late again, at least until 2026. At the beginning of May, Bob Iger, CEO of Disney, stated in a call with shareholders that the intention was to take the foot off the accelerator in terms of MCU releases. The corporation has proposed not releasing more than three films from the franchise per year.

If this idea is sustained, the lots for 2025 would already be covered. Let’s remember that next year they will hit the big screen Captain America: Brave New World (February 14th), Thunderbolts (May 5) and The Fantastic Four (July 25).

Besides, The Wrap mentions that the script Blade is no longer in the hands of Michael Starrbury, but of Eric Pearson. The latter has been responsible for writing the new film The Fantastic Four and other Marvel Studios productions such as Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow and Thunderbolts.

We’ll see who gets into the director’s chair. Blade and if the movie is indeed delayed once again. Up to this point the only appearance of Day Walker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been in a post-credits scene from Eternals. Although the character is not seen on screen, Mahershala Ali’s voice can be heard off camera.
