Vitsuoki was born in 2022, when Vito Vincenzo, who had arrived in Buenos Aires years ago from Chubut to study audiovisual arts, understood that music and the invention of an aesthetic could go hand in hand. Thus, the Argentine musician would create an open space with connections to the past, present and future, with a sound that contains both pop, shoegaze, folk and black metal in the same boundless embrace.

The scars of the pandemic and the feeling of a hyperconnected society were the kickstart to create something new. After recording and even mastering his songs, Vicenzo was still not convinced with the result and decided to ask producer Santiago De Simone for help to give it the final touch. In October 2023, the EP came out a beautiful world.

Its influences are very varied, it is a fan of pop structure, but with a twist. Find beauty everywhere, in the reverb of My Bloody Valentine, in the melodies of The 1975 or in the rawness of Darkthrone. Regarding aesthetics, Vitsuoki He wears a suit, like a regular guy who wants his life back. Think of a series like Severancein texts by Foucault and Deleuze, and in the Patagonian landscapes that helped him create certain songs.

“Welcome” is the introduction of a beautiful world, a short and pleasant instrumental piece, an instant passage to the Vitsuoki world. “These songs are a mirror to observe and understand my true emotions -says the artist in conversation with Indie Today-. There is a narrative from beginning to end, although they work individually.” The beginning of “Fairydust” contrasts the softness of her voice with robotic sounds that lead to a pop chorus with a mix of electric and acoustic guitars.

“Hanahaki (feeling like this)” is a kind of sonic continuation, a happy melody and lyrics that take on melancholy and describe a fictional illness popularized in Japanese manga, where a person has a feeling of unrequited love and it manifests itself physically when flowers grow inside their body. “At the Time Everyone Leaves” portrays Vito’s experience of living in front of the Recoleta cemetery. It is the longest song on the EP, where a folk guitar is wrapped around the voice, which ends up being many and leaving a ghostly feeling. Towards the end, the darkness becomes palpable with similarities to Deafheaven’s blackgaze.

“Lucero” contains the story of Bernabé Lucero who, according to legend, raffled off the secrets of Salamanca in exchange for playing the guitar.. Floriano López, writer and poet from Lamarque, said that Bernabé told him details about what happened, for example, that to acquire the gift, he had to wear the same or similar clothing with which he entered Salamanca throughout his life. Vito uses acoustic sound for the story and closes his vision with the line “The fever made everything clearer to me.”

To enter the world of Vitsuoki, you must be dressed in a suit, without the alienation of everyday life, in pursuit of total recovery. His music can fit into the post-pandemic scene, and there are even some bands and artists that arouse great interest, such as Crisá, Babeblade or Wrrn, whom he met when they lived in the south.

The production of their EP is very detailed, which makes it quite difficult to bring to the stage. For now, Vito is on guitar, Sebastián Soto from Wrrn on drums and Raybet on bass.. He has new songs ready to record, but there is no need to rush, first you have to go out and play live and that is why the second part of the year will be important. Vitsuoki is a journey into the unknown and a reunion with the known, it is a matter of accepting the trance.

Listen to Vitsuoki on streaming platforms (Spotify, Tidal, Apple Music).
