Raidel’s ninth save in Japanese baseball

Havana.- THE CUBAN GUY Raidel Martínez scored his ninth save in the 2024 Japanese Professional Baseball League this Sunday, in the 6×3 victory of the Chunichi Dragons against the Yakult Swallows.

At Meiji Jingo Stadium in Tokyo, the tall and fast right-handed closer barely got the last out of the ninth inning by way of strikeout, to leave his ERA untouchable at 0.00 earned runs.

The man from Pinar del Río remained the sole leader in saves, not only taking into account the Central League, but in the entire Japanese professional circuit.

The closest to his position is the Mexican Roberto Osuna (8), from the SoftBank Halcones, in the Pacific League.

With that third of the inning worked this Sunday, Raidel exhibits 14 climbs to the mound, with 13.1 innings in which he has struck out 11 and has not walked. They have barely hit him five hits.

Meanwhile, Cuban Ariel Martínez added a single in four visits to the plate to keep his average at .240, in the 6×3 victory of the Nippon Ham Fighters against the Orix Buffaloes, at the Kyocera Dome, in Osaka and for the League of Peaceful.
