Orenburg will make effective the purchase option for the controversial forward Jordhy Thompson, who arrived on loan to the Russian club in January, but who will remain with the team permanently, also leaving US$1.2 million for the Cacique.

The information was confirmed by the En Cancha portal, where they indicated that Orenburg decided to make the purchase option effective, and will acquire 60% of Thompson’s pass for US$1.2 million, after he fulfilled the clause of playing at least 10 games for the Russian club.

According to the aforementioned portal, The forward should remain in Orenburg next season, as long as the club remains in the Russian Premier League, considering that there is still a minimal risk of playing in the promotion league.

In the absence of a date for the end of the tournament, Orenburg marches in 12th place with 30 pointsone more than Fakel and Pari, the clubs that preceded them in the standings, and that would now play for promotion.

In this way, Orenburg must win on the weekend, when they host Spartak Moscow, to 100% ensure their permanence. In case of a tie or defeat, they must hope that Fakel or Pari do not add more points than the Chilean team.

Legal issues

Thompson must return to Chile in June to sign before the court, this because he is still listed as a defendant for the crime of attempted femicide against his ex-partner, whom he attacked on different occasions.
