NEW YORK — JD Martínez hit a pair of home runs, Colombian José Quintana ended a 10-game winless streak and the New York Mets beat the San Diego Padres 5-1 on Saturday for their eighth victory in 10 games .

Martinez walked Adam Mazur (0-2) in his first two at-bats and then took it off Jhony Brito to cap a three-run streak in the fourth and added a solo home run off fellow Dominican Enyel De Los Santos in the seventh.

Both home runs were from the opposite side and Martínez reached 23 games with more than one home run. He has 15 RBIs in his last 14 games after producing 11 in his first 29 with New York.

Brandon Nimmo had RBI doubles in the fourth and eighth innings for the Mets’ fourth straight victory.

The left-handed Quintana (2-5) allowed two hits in six innings. He allowed rookie Jackson Merrill’s third home run in as many games.

Quintana was 0-4 with a 5.86 ERA in his previous 10 starts. He hadn’t won since April 11 in Atlanta.

For the Padres, Venezuelan Luis Arráez 0-4. Dominicans Manny Machado 4-0 and Fernando Tatis Jr. 3-1.

For the Mets, Puerto Rican Francisco Lindor 3-1, one run scored. Venezuelan Francisco Álvarez 4-1.
