The days of E3 are behind us, as are all of them those afternoons of crochets and Coca-Cola in front of the screen, those in which you waited for conferences, wandering around and reading rumors. We will miss that intensive course of three afternoons, nights and early mornings with which you got up to speed for the rest of the year when it comes to video games. Something like the Eurovision of gamers, their Champions League final. But now that the event has been canceled forever we have to hold on to its heir, the Summer Game Fest.
When is Summer Game Fest?
Although it extends over several days and encompasses multiple events, the highlight of the Summer Game Fest is its inaugural gala, which will take place on June 7, 2024 at 11:00 p.m. (Spanish time). It can be followed through the same YouTube and Twitch channels where The Game Awards is broadcast. The conference will last about an hour and a half and the participation of more than 50 video game developers has been confirmed, eager to surprise and present new features.
Differences between Summer Game Fest and Inaugural Gala
In his day many thought that E3 was the conferences (when in reality they were the following days, in which the doors of the Los Angeles Convention Center were opened to the press to prove what was announced), and with the Summer Game Fest something similar happens. Most believe it is just one of Geoff Keighley’s many shows, but Nothing is further from reality.
The Summer Game Fest is an innumerable string of conferences and events (here you have a calendar with all of them, absolutely all of them) that are announced and transmitted through the same social networks and channels to be organized (not step on each other) and share the speaker. Its calendar includes events of the caliber of the Xbox Showcase and the inaugural gala itself and other more humble ones such as the Wholesome Direct and the Future Games Show. That’s not counting the companies that prefer to do their own thing, but take advantage of the fact that everyone is on the lookout these weeks to do their own live shows and streamings (this is the case of Ubisoft Forward).
To summarize, it is a kind of festival (as its name suggests) extends throughout the summer and that in addition to the third party concerts (the conferences) it also celebrates its own and all the way to start (the opening gala).
