We already knew that Hexworks wanted to expand the universe of its popular Lords of the Fallen turning soulslike into a video game saga; an idea that is already being carried out through the development of a sequel from the original adventure. However, and although no more details have been shared about the gaming experience of this RPG, an important piece of information about its PC version has now been confirmed: It will only be available on the Epic Games Store.

This was announced by CI Games, distributor of Lords of the Fallen, in a corporate statement that was published on the Polish website. Bankier (via Chairmanchuck on ResetEra): “The board of directors of CI Games SE, with offices located in Warsaw (the ‘Company’) informs that on June 14, 2014, the Company has signed a binding agreement with Epic Games Inc (‘Epic’) regarding the Company’s grant to Epic of exclusive global distribution of the next part of the game Lords of the Fallen (codename ‘Project 3’) (the ‘Game’) on the PC platform during the entire product life cycle.

“The rights to the Game and the Saga, including all intellectual property (IP) rights, as well as the rights to publish and distribute the Game on other platforms, including PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, platforms for which the Game is currently in development, will remain with the Company”. To finalize the details of the agreement, the document ends by saying that “the game is planned to be released in 2026“. In this way, PC players will only be able to access the sequel to Lords of the Fallen through the Epic Games Store.

Lords of the Fallen now has ‘Mostly Positive’ reviews on Steam

It remains to be seen how the sequel to Lords of the Fallen develops commercially as it is only on the Epic Games Store, at least as far as its PC version is concerned. Meanwhile, Hexworks is gaining the trust of Steam users getting ‘Mostly Positive’ reviews after seven months on the market, as the soulslike experienced several performance problems during its first weeks.
