We could say that PS Portal didn’t get off to a good start, but Sony continues to release updates to make this device more attractive. Without going any further, on the PlayStation blog they have announced a new update that will be available on June 19. This update will add new features that are very interesting.

These are all the new features that will arrive with the update

One of the most notable improvements of this update is the login screen support on certain public Wi-Fi networks. Until now, PS Portal was mainly recommended for home use, where you have control over the quality of the Wi-Fi connection. However, many users have taken advantage of the device’s ability to play outdoors as long as there is a fast and stable Wi-Fi connection.

With the new update, PS Portal will be able to connect to Public Wi-Fi networks requiring additional validation steps. These networks, common in places like hotels, cafes, and airports, typically have login screens. When the user tries to connect to one of these networks, PS Portal will display a QR code that can be scanned with a mobile phone or tablet. Through the mobile device’s web browser, additional validation steps can be completed, thus allowing the device to connect.

It is important to remember that PS Portal requires a Wi-Fi connection of at least 5 Mbps to operate, and a speed of 15 Mbps is recommended for optimal gaming experience.

This device has an 8-inch Full HD screen

In addition to support for public Wi-Fi networks, the update introduces new visual feedback for touchpad areas from the PS Portal. The device’s 8-inch screen will display new visual effects when using the touch panel areas during remote use, improving the user experience.

Another novelty is the option to display the remaining battery level as a percentage in the status bar at the top right of the screen. To activate this function, you must access the quick menu, go to Settings, System, Battery and activate Show battery percentage.
