After years on the wish list, the Apple Watch rings improve and so do the notification tones
We already know watchOS 11, the next big update that Coming to Apple Watch in September. This is an update full of new features in the health section with a new intensity meter for physical activity or improvements in pregnancy records. However, there are two functions that, although minor on paper, are very important.
They are changes in the form of set training goals of the week, as well as new ringtones for certain notifications. Improvements that we will appreciate on a daily basis and that have finally been implemented, since they have been a wish for many Apple Watch users for years.
We will be able to close rings at our own pace
If you have an Apple Watch, you will already know very well its famous rings to motivate us to exerciseThere are three of them and they have different configurable objectives: ‘Movement’ for the calories to burn each day, ‘Exercise’ for the minutes of daily exercise and ‘Standing’ to avoid spending many hours sitting down.
Well, there was an outcry among users regarding the demand to close the rings. Until now, they are objectives that must be met day by day, without taking into account that one day we may be sick, injured or that we simply do not feel like exercising. Well, this will change in watchOS 11.
Now finally We can set objectives for each day of the week, thus allowing us to train more intensely on certain days and take them more relaxed on others. We can even deactivate the count for an entire day if we are not going to be able to accomplish anything, thus allowing us to have a day of rest.
The striking thing about this last option is that It won’t stop us from continuing to win trophies. And it won’t break the streak of consecutive days closing the rings either. And despite how positive it is to do sports, it is obvious that excess is not good and that it is practically impossible not to have a single day in which we can’t do it. Now, this is something that the Apple Watch finally understands.
Different tones for each type of notification
This is surely a smaller novelty than the previous one, but it is still relevant. Until now the sounds that the Apple Watch emitted for notifications were very standard. However, with watchOS 11 you will be able to Set different sounds for each notification.
In this way, we can have different signals for when we receive an email, a message or an alert from the calendar and reminder applications.
We even found new ringtones for incoming calls. As with the rest of notifications, there are several options available. It’s not that there are a lot of melodies to choose from and we can’t add a song as a ringtone like the iPhone, but it’s something. Especially when we come from ten versions in which it could not be changed.
watchOS 11 is coming to these Apple Watch models
Unlike watchOS 10, in this version Say goodbye to compatibility with Apple Watch Series 4, Series 5 and SE (1st gen.)thus leaving the list of models compatible with the update and, therefore, with the new features mentioned above (and the rest):

Therefore, if you have one of these Apple Watch you will be able to enjoy this new update soon. It should be said that it is also available in beta, but it is only for developers and the fact that it is unstable and that it cannot be converted to watchOS 10 is enough reason not to install it yet.
