Naturgy: Responsible and safe consumption of gas
Naturgy: Responsible and safe consumption of gas

With the arrival of the first cold weather, we can all achieve responsible and safe consumption of natural gas in our homes.

Natural gas is a non-renewable natural resource that plays a fundamental role in people’s daily lives and in a country’s economy.

That is why, given the arrival of the first cold weather and within the framework of the “Let’s Take Care of Our Resources” program, Naturgy has established a series of recommendations with the aim of promoting the responsible, efficient, rational and safe use of a natural and non-renewable resource, such as natural gas.

First of all, it is essential to promote the responsible use of natural gas. This implies that we all become aware that with small precautions in homes we can enjoy the comforts and services of natural gas and, simultaneously, save on consumption. To achieve this, it is important to make rational use of gas in homes, companies and industries, avoiding leaving appliances on unnecessarily and carrying out proper maintenance of the equipment to avoid leaks.

Additionally, on our portal www.Let’sTakeCareOurResources.com You can find recommendations for conscious use not only of gas, but also of electricity and water.

For this, Naturgy invites you to put into practice the suggestions for responsible use of our energy:

For Heating

  • Heat only those environments where there are people and at a reasonable temperature (18° C approx.). Stoves and radiators should not be covered with curtains or furniture. In this way accidents are avoided and caloric utilization is improved.
  • Use the thermostat to regulate the appropriate temperature in the rooms. Do not open the window to lower the temperature.
  • Reduce air leaks in doors and windows by using weather stripping and simultaneously ensuring proper ventilation.
  • Wear warm clothing inside the house.

For Cooking

  • Never use the burners and/or oven to heat the rooms.
  • Use the oven sparingly (the gas consumption of 1 oven is equivalent to that of 3 small burners).
  • Cook with the pot covered and reduce the flame when it reaches the boiling point.
  • Adjust the burner flame to the diameter of the bottom of the containers and keep them covered. The protruding flame does not provide greater heat to the container and if it is uncovered, temperature is lost.
  • When it reaches the boiling point, reduce the heat. When it reaches cooking point, turn it off.

For hot water

  • Use hot water only when necessary, and heat it to a sufficient temperature. Do not waste water or gas, which are limited resources.
  • If you have a heater, regulate the water temperature with the knob or button. Avoid mixing hot water with cold water. This will save gas and prolong the useful life of the appliance.
  • Use the shower with a flower that is in good condition and disperses water well.
  • If you have a hot water tank, regulate its temperature and thermally insulate the appliance when it is placed outside the home.
  • When showering, do so within a reasonable amount of time.

The pilot

  • Keep the pilot light on only when using the devices.
  • If you change your water heater or hot water tank, always choose the most efficient ones: The Class A.
