Punjab Kings all-rounder leaves India after sensational win over Kolkata Knight Riders

Punjab Kings all-rounder Sikandar Raza has left India to join Zimbabwe for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. The star all-rounder played in just two games and scored 43 runs in IPL 2024. PBKS have competed in nine matches so far, winning just three.

Raza, who is one of the best T20 cricketers in the world, couldn’t make it to the playing XI regularly because of the team combination and the rule of four overseas players.

He took to social media to reveal the news of his departure. “Thank you India, IPL and Punjab Kings for having me. Loved every minute of it. Time for national duty now. Inshallah we will meet again soon,” he wrote.

Bangladesh will host Zimbabwe in the upcoming five-match T20I series, with the opening game scheduled on May 3. The last contest will be played on May 12.

Sikandar will be available for Punjab’s match against Rajasthan Royals on May 15. PBKS will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 19.

Raza may play in the last two matches of the season, as Punjab are unlikely to make it to the playoffs. The team has been vulnerable in the batting department, sweeping the previous game against Kolkata Knight Riders, where the top order completed the world record chase of 262 runs.
