Recognizing his serious mistake and offering apologies to everyone, journalist Miguel Acuña broke the silence seven months after carrying out a police incident that cost him his job at Channel 13.

In October 2023, the communicator who used to give notes on crimes that occurred at night in Santiago, He got into his vehicle while intoxicated and ran over cyclists, several of them minors that ended with injuries.

“I have remained silent… and There are no two truths here, there are no excuses: I was irresponsible, I got into the vehicle when I was not fit and I was involved in this unfortunate accident.. Thank God no major situation occurred, it could have been a tragedy,” she began.

“There is no valid excuse. There are people affected here and those are the main victims of this situation. And, of course, I reiterate my apologies and ask for forgiveness for what happened,” he added.

Miguel Acuña continued saying that “the accident was specific. I left a street, turned and went to pick up a group of people who were there.. Fortunately, I repeat, they did not result in serious injuries, but what I did was damage.”

I was medicated that day. And I have seen the image that we see very few times… It hurts, it hurts me a lot. “I decided to return to work and, of course – in some way – be with the people who had suffered the accident,” she continued.

In closing, the journalist said that “Some time ago we reached a reparation agreement, I had to sign the same day they kicked me out of Channel 13. They were super understanding, kind and very affectionate with me. Thank God, they are fine.”
