Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar: The Kej police in Beed district on Saturday arrested three men from Dharashiv on the charges of murdering a man and then trying to pass it off as a case of hit-and-run on the highway.Police said the accused, after mowing down a man with a truck, took the vehicle to Jalna and parked it at a heavy vehicle parking lot. The vehicle was seized on Saturday.Kej inspector Prashant Mahajan said on April 28, an unidentified person was found dead on the Pimpalgaon-Vida road. Prima facie, it appeared to be a hit and run case. A couple of days later, a woman from Gappewadi village turned up at govt rural hospital and identified the deceased as her husband, Dattatray Kedar. The accused were produced before the court on Saturday. They were remanded in police custody until May 7. The woman expressed doubts about the conditions under which her husband was found dead. Mahajan said that based on the woman’s suspicion, a probe was initiated and it was found that the deceased man was allegedly having an illicit relationship with a woman from Dharashiv. “Based on the technical evidence collected during the course of investigation, our teams arrested Vilas Kedar, Vikas Kedar and Parmeshwar Choure,” said Mahajan. Police maintained that Vilas was upset because of his wife’s relationship with the victim. Disturbed by the problems in his personal life, Vilas with the help of two of his confidants took Dattatray to a deserted place, where they made him drink liquor, and later mowed him down with his truck.
