CDMX police arrest men for removing seals from speakeasy

In Mexico City, eight people allegedly tried to outwit the authorities to try to recover a home that supposedly functioned as a clandestine bar in the streets of the Venustiano Carranza mayor’s office, where in February of this year there were a fight which left people injured by gunshots.

Operators from the North Command and Control Center (C2) requested police from the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC) to go to the Platinum Street and its corner with Engineer Eduardo Molina Avenue in the Felipe Ángeles neighborhood, where a group of eight men were removing the custody seals from a closed property.

Detainees tried to recover property with false papers

When the police arrived at the scene, they interviewed one of the men, who reported having in hand the documents issued by a competent authority, in which he authorized the removal of the seals and their return to the owner of the property.

However, the officers proceeded to verify the authenticity of the documents, so they contacted the corresponding authorities, but were informed that they were falsified documents, since there was no current order on the judicial mandate that referred to said seals. were removed from their site.

After that, the police arrested the men aged 22, 23, 35, 42, 53, 58 and two of 44 years of age, who were placed at the disposal of the corresponding Public Ministry agent, to integrate the investigation file and define their legal status.

Detained, with criminal records for other crimes

The address that had the stamps was apparently used as a speakeasy and it is probably related to an event that occurred on February 26, where two people were injured by gunshots resulting from a fight.

In addition, three of the detainees have been admitted to the Mexico City Penitentiary System, one of the probable suspects, 44 years old, has two admissions for the crimes of generic fraud and qualified homicide, in the years 2010 and 2019; The second, 53 years old, has a conviction for the crime of robbery in 2003; while the other detainee, 44 years old, records an admission in 2001, for the crime of robbery.
