At the start of Saturday’s sprint race at the 2024 F1 Miami Grand Prix, there was a four-way accident in the first corner of the American track when Lewis Hamilton went into turn 1 and Fernando Alonso collided with his teammate. Lance Stroll in an attempt to avoid it, who in turn collided with Lando Norris’s McLaren.
The first touch was between the two Aston Martins, although Alonso blamed Hamilton for “throwing like a bull” in turn 1. The Asturian had to pit with a puncture, while the Canadian abandoned, like Norris, who took the brunt of the disaster.

Lewis Hamilton, who started the domino effect, was the most fortunate, as he remained in ninth position in the time table without apparently serious damage. Furthermore, the FIA did not even investigate the incident, considering it a racing incident, so the British Mercedes driver managed to escape the multiple collision unscathed.
However, it became clear that it was not the best day for the seven-time world champion shortly after when, with the safety car on the track, the cars passed through the pits to avoid the pieces of cars that had been scattered around the first corner and the Mercedes exceeded the speed limit pit lanestipulated at 80 km/h.
Due to this, the FIA imposed a 20-second penalty on the Briton after the sprint race, the equivalent of a Drive Through, for which he lost the point added with his eighth place.
