RAHIM YAR KHAN:

A man allegedly burnt his 17-year-old daughter to death with the help of his sons over her refusal to marry a man of his choice.

An attempt to bury the body to conceal the crime was foiled by the police who transferred it to a hospital for post-mortem and registered a case.

According to sources, the police had received a tip that some people were secretly burying the girl named Maimoona Bibi in the Miani graveyard.

Upon reaching the spot, the police took possession of the corpse and conducted an investigation, revealing that the deceased wanted to marry a youth named Naseeb and had eloped from his home.

However, she had later returned home after the intervention of local dignitaries.

Her family tried to force her to marry Muhammad Asif, but the victim refused to marry him, after which her father Ata Muhammad, along with Asif, Arshad, Amjad and others, beat her up and burned her to death.

The police registered a case against the suspects and are investigating the incident.
