Edilia Bastidas, responsible for Trelew’s “Dining Room of the Heart”, referred in the last few hours to the arrival of natural gas service bills, which began to reflect strong increases in values compared to the previous month.
In a talk with journalist Rodrigo Mansilla on INVINCIBLES, on FM EL CHUBUT, the neighbor said that the bill went from 5 thousand pesos to more than 133 thousand pesos. “Today I can’t pay it, because just on Saturday I bought food to make it until Wednesday,” she revealed.
In this sense, although he confirmed that thanks to the collaboration of the community, this month he hopes to cover the value of the bill, he expressed concern about the coming months because that will be when the consumption of the coldest months begins to arrive.
“I think we’re going to get there well,” he confirmed, pointing out “it’s being raised, I have about 88 thousand pesos, so I think we’re going to get there well.”
“If this month came like this, the next month will come more or less the same – but – the issue is the other two months, these coming months, which always come more expensive,” he acknowledged.
The neighbor said that the soup kitchen provides food assistance to between 90 and up to 125 people daily, pointing out that in many cases the families do not have any source of income.
“We have a minimum of 90 meals a day, the first weeks it always drops a little; but at the end of the month we already reach 120, 125 meals a day, from Monday to Friday,” he quantified.
He explained that these families are also affected by the increase in services, but also in food, generating a complex panorama for these people given that “you have people who do not receive anything, they are unemployed or grandparents, who are the ones who receive the least; the majority receive nothing.”
“You don’t have to do a lot of math to realize that it’s not enough,” he added.
