This morning, a spectacular traffic accident left one person dead and two seriously injured on the Costa Verde beach circuit, in the district of Magdalena.
According to witnesses, the incident occurred at approximately 1:37 am because a vehicle was carrying out an illegal pick-up race and on its way at excessive speed it collided with a truck occupied by three young people who were traveling through that area.
As a result of the strong impact, the truck with license plate CBP-555 lost control, spinning several times until colliding with a public lighting pole. One of the occupants, who was in the back without a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle.
The 24-year-old died instantly after falling on the asphalt, while the driver and co-pilot were seriously injured. Both were taken by firefighters to the San Judas Tadeo clinic.
The first police investigations indicate that the driver, who caused the accident, had tried to flee, and that, in addition, his friends wanted to remove the car’s license plate to prevent him from being identified.
Due to the accident, police have restricted vehicular traffic in one of the north-south lanes.
