Electricity and gas rates rise after the removal of Nation subsidies – El Día de Gualeguaychú

By decision of the national government, on June 1 the transition began towards the gradual removal of subsidies in electricity and gas rates, which will mean an increase in the monthly bills received by Entre Ríos households.. In addition, Nación decided to focus subsidies by placing limits on the monthly consumption of each category of users.

The restructuring carried out by the national government has a triple scheme: it increases the value of energy; subsidies are reduced, with caps on kilowatt hours per month; and the maximum volumes of subsidizable consumption are determined for categories N2, which will be 350 kWh per month, and 250 kWh per month for category N3.

The national government establishes new consumption limits for subsidized energy at Levels 2 and 3. Low-income sectors (N2), which until now did not have limits, will have up to 350 kWh per month subsidized. Meanwhile, middle-income sectors (N3) will have a monthly subsidy limit of 250 kWh (previously it was 400 kWh per month).

All consumption that exceeds these limits will pay the rest of the rate in full. This means that they will pay the full cost regardless of whether they have low (N2) or medium (N3) income.

Segmentation scheme:

N1: No subsidies. Family income greater than $2,706,848.00. They pay the full rate. They have no consumption limit.

N2: Low family income less than $773,385.00. Scarce resources. Until now they did not have power consumption limits, now they do: 350 kWh per month.

N3: Average family income between $773,385 and $2,706,848.00. Only 250 kWh per month is subsidized. Before it was 400 kWh.

Until July 31, inclusive, Entre Ríos families have time not to lose the benefit by registering in the Registry of Access to Energy Subsidies (RASE), entering argentina.gob.ar/subsidios
