There are animated series that we like as much or even more than live action series. And, especially, those series that are not exactly designed for the little ones in the house are truly wonderful. We devoured them episode after episode and we always left wanting more. That’s why it’s such good news that have been announced, by surprise, special episodes of one of the best series in its field. We can’t wait to see them!
On April 17, the final season of the legendary Family Guy took place to date. This animated series created by Seth MacFarlane, the one-man band who is also responsible for other great hits of film and television like Ted or Padre made in USA, he had very difficult times in the past. But today his presence on Disney + is more than solid. So solid that something has been announced that has delighted its fans.
The series will not end
That, to begin with. Family Guy is celebrating his 25th anniversary and, in addition to making us feel very old, what its creator does is confirm that there is no type of thought related to the end of the series. It is something that is not included in the plans and that, therefore, can be discarded. As he mentions, he doesn’t think it makes sense to end the series because fans are still having a good time with it and enjoying each of its episodes.
That means that the audience is still there and that Family Guy continues to be a series of incalculable value within the lineup that Disney+ now has. Another story would be if the viewing and audience figures on television dropped, because then a decision would have to be made about ending the Griffins’ story. But, given what we have seen, it is unlikely to happen. The creator of the animated series also says that there was, in the past, a point at which it was considered ending it and no longer producing new episodes. But it has rained a lot since then and today the situation is very different. In addition, it refers to the fact that part of the income could be helping various charitable causes.
Before the next season
If we refer to what has happened year after year, with the end of the current season, Family Guy should have “slept” until the start of the next one. But, many years ago, the series reached have some specials that swept in its DVD editions, as was the case of the one dedicated to parodying the Star Wars universe. Now that philosophy is going to be recovered with two special episodes that will air before the end of the year, during the holiday season.
For now, the theme of the specials is unknown, but taking into account the dates, we should not rule out the possibility of meeting Santa Claus himself. The character has already had a presence in the series, so it wouldn’t be something strange either. On the other hand, knowing the Griffins and the crazy stories they star in, we should not rule out an argument either. that is related to streaming advertising or with the new way in which they reach viewers around the world.
Because, although Family Guy has never dealt with current affairs as closely as South Park, it is a series that likes to introduce real references in some episodes. And it could also be a possibility see cameos or crazy crossovers, especially because the crossover with The Simpsons continues to be one of the most remembered by fans of Peter Griffin and company. Two things are certain: we’re in for a lot of laughs before season 23 and, as Peter would say, the bird still holds the key.
