In the midst of the scandal of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD), the former president Alvaro Uribe He referred this Tuesday to the Congress of the Republic and the processing of the Government’s social reforms.

“The revocation of Congress in 1991, according to some Constituents, was very determined by the need to open space for the new forces that participated in the Constituent Assembly, such as the M19. The 1990 Congress had carried out an impeccable legislative exercise,” said the former president.

Uribe added that the current panorama of the Legislature is different from that of the past and that the approval of projects could be affected: “The current Congress has already revoked its legitimacy to pass laws that would be condemned to disappear. Whats Next?”.

His message comes in the midst of the scandal of alleged corruption in the UNGRD, which would supposedly link the two presidents of Congress, Ivan Name (Senate), and Andrew Street (Camera); to some congressmen and the former counselor for the Regions Sandra Ortizwho will be succeeded by Luz María Múnera.

From the opposition to the government of President Gustavo Petro, several congressmen ask that the reforms be shelved or sunk due to the doubts that there would be surrounding their approval. This week the pension would begin its third debate in the Seventh Committee of the House and it is yet to be defined when the new health reform will be filed.
