On behalf of President Nicolás Maduro, Foreign Minister Yván Gil also thanked last night, on his social network account X, Beijing’s position of “condemning the illegal sanctions that continue to affect our oil industry.”

The senior diplomat denounced that these actions “seek to inflict damage on our country and appropriate our resources in a criminal manner.”

The day before, the spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, stated that his country opposes the illegal measures that weigh on the Bolivarian Republic, unilaterally imposed by the United States.

We urge Washington to immediately and completely stop interfering in Venezuela’s internal affairs, the spokesperson declared at a press conference.

Lin supported the statement of the Bolivarian Government that strongly condemned the process of the US authorities to take over the Citgo refineries.

The statement noted that the forced sale of that company constitutes a new episode of the multifaceted aggression carried out by United States institutions against Venezuela.

The spokesperson said that China has always firmly upheld the United Nations Charter and the basic norms governing international relations.

He demanded that the White House must completely abolish illegal unilateral sanctions against Caracas and do more things that lead to peace, stability and development of the countries.

The National Assembly (Parliament) debated the issue yesterday in an ordinary session and was repudiated by the legislators.

Jorge Rodríguez, president of Parliament, denounced that the US Court of Delaware accepted the offers for the consummation of the auction and theft of the Citgo company.

He declared that “there are companies that have already shared the loot at a truly ridiculous price,” because the assets of that Venezuelan entity amount to 21 billion dollars.

Rodríguez insisted that Citgo was stolen, it was already auctioned, and Gerardo Blyde, chief negotiator of the Democratic Unitary Platform, instead of opposing, all he asked was that they wait “until August after the elections, because it could hurt us.”

He blamed the “thieves Horacio Medina, Leopoldo López, Juan Guaidó, José Ignacio Hernández and Julio Borges, who agreed and were “the ones who delivered it under his administration,” which covered the legislative period of 2015-2020, he said.
