The mayor with a license from Montevideo closed her campaign with an event to a full stadium in the capital’s Aguada neighborhood, where she called the government of President Luis Lacalle Pou “conservative.”

“We committed to running a unified campaign, and I can tell you that we fulfilled it,” he said in reference to the other Frente Amplista candidates: Yamandú Orsi and Andrés Lima.

Cosse stated that Uruguay is torn between two models, “a progressive path and a conservative path.

He accused the government of being strong with the weak and weak with the allies.

“He has been strong with the workers, when he lowers their salaries and when they organize to protest and repress. It has been strong with the (popular) pots, persecuting them, but if there are friendly foundations it is not so strong.”

The candidate promised to dedicate six percent of the Gross Domestic Product to education and one percent to science and technology, “a historic investment.”

He stressed that a Front government “will give back to the people the State that withdrew” and assured that it will govern “with a lot of participation.”

“We will build from below, governing from below and from deep, because it grows from the foot,” he stated.

Regarding the polls that put her second in the internal Broad Front, behind Yamandú Orsi, she was ironic about the meteorological reports that announce rains that do not come true.

On Sunday, June 30, the internal elections are called in which the political parties qualified for the October elections will elect their candidates for the presidency of the Republic.
