In an atmosphere full of reflections and debates, Alejandro “El Negro” Molina, renowned writer, musician and radio host, shared his thoughts on the future of the medium and his perspective on the fair.

“Radio has a future, language is the language of thought, people who think can and want to communicate, even if the technologies are different, and that is the future of radio. Out there, with devices that we can’t even imagine, and even out there, as I said a while ago, without devices, telepathically, it is still radio,” Molina expressed to Between lines at the end of the talk he gave to more than 150 people in the Victoria Ocampo room.

With some perplexity, Molina addressed the atmosphere of the fair, describing it as “a little conflictive,” where ideas and worldviews intersect and generate sparks.

“Some worldviews have collided and there have been some sparks out there,” the announcer commented.

“So I watch, like a voyeur, waiting to see if this leads to some kind of event,” he added, suggesting the possibility that debates and confrontations at the fair could lead to significant events.

Molina also highlighted the resistance necessary to maintain independence of thought in the face of pressures from certain structures.

“The thinking person must make a great effort to overcome the desire for domination of certain structures,” he noted.

“That way of resisting, not resisting oppression, of resisting the pressure that they continually put on you to want this, to think that. That alone constitutes a great effort.”

Finally, Molina referred to the statements of the president of the Fundación el Libro, Alejandro Vaccaro, who said that the fair was an act of resistance: “It seemed a bit much to me, but it is still true. An act of dissent could be , No?”.
