The Organization of Consumers and Users (OCU) warned last Friday the 26th of risk of failure in the brakes of several BMW brand cars manufactured between 2022 and this year. This failure would be found in the hydraulic brake assist system.
A failure that would force “greater pressure on the brake pedal, causing a longer braking distance and possible failure of the ABS system and stability control”, as specified by OCU. In this way, the organization indicated that the total number of affected models could be 25,000 passenger vehicles. The cars in question are part of the branches Series 2, Series 5, Series 7, i5, i7, iX1, X1, X5, X6, X7, XM, X5M and X6M.
In its statement, OCU understood that the German manufacturer “will contact the owners” of the cars, while this must correct said error “as soon as possible” and “free of charge”. He also recommended drivers contact BMW customer service, highlighting the case of those purchasing a second-hand vehicle.
Precisely, to the latter, OCU issued the following notice. “In this case, the owner is most likely not in the brand database”. All of these models were developed between June 2022 and last January. In addition to Spain, measures were adopted in countries such as France and Portugal, where these vehicles were also marketed.
