Voahangy Rasetarinera, owner of the Giving Pies bakery in San Jose, California, made her story go viral after her business was left with a financial risk, following an order placed from the electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla that was unexpectedly canceled.

4,000 mini cakes had been confirmed for an estimated value of $12,000 which, according to Rasetarinera, were for a celebration that Elon Musk’s company was going to hold.

And despite the magnitude of the request, the woman accepted the task because in the past had already managed to fulfill large orders for corporations like Apple, Google and Intuit.

The affected person recounted what happened from her store’s Instagram account, revealing that On February 14, a woman named Laura contacted her.with the aim of quoting a first order of 2,000 cakes that would be delivered twice, on the following Tuesday and Thursday.

After providing a quote and receiving approval, the owner said the first complications arose when the payment process was redirected through the Tesla supplier, called City Flavor.

Despite Rasetarinera’s efforts to arrange payment of an initial deposit, company communication was limited. “I remained optimistic as I waited for payment on Thursday. However, when it did not materialize, I became worried,” said the woman.

That same Thursday, February 15, at night, he received a call from Laura who first apologized because her supplier did not pay on time, claiming that they were new. Then, he requested to double the order size asking that the cakes be packaged in boxes of two and even stating that cost was not an issue.

After consulting with his staff and despite the lateness and short notice, Rasetarinera accepted and quickly sent an invoice reviewed on Friday, February 16, requesting payment by noon to have additional resources for production. However, this was never done.

The businesswoman said that to fulfill the order she turned down other businesses, bought supplies and prepared for a demanding production schedule. And after several failed attempts to communicate with Laura, he finally He received a text message in which he was assured that the “plan had changed and that Tesla would no longer need the order.”.

This cancellation generated serious economic consequences due to the resources already invested in preparation to fulfill the request.

In response to the cancellation, Tesla tried to remedy the situation offering Giving Pies the opportunity to collaborate in two events scheduled for next March 6 and 7.
