Fenoge launches market study for 300 solar projects in vulnerable communities

The Energy and Gas Regulation Commission (CREG) is working, in coordination with the Ministry of Mines and Energy and the Mining – Energy Planning Unit, UPME, in the regulation of energy communities in Colombia.

In fact, days ago, the CREG In its session No. 1322 on June 13, 2024, it approved submitting the draft resolution to public consultation “By which the regulation for the integration of energy communities into the National Energy System is harmonized and other provisions are dictated“, for a period of fifteen 15 business days, counted from the day following its publication on the web portal of the CREG.

The consolidation of energy communities is a fundamental commitment in the panorama of the energy transition in Colombia and the regulatory authorities are working to ensure that this draft resolution comes into force in the shortest possible time.

Under this premise, the Fund for Non-Conventional Energy and Efficient Energy Management (FENOGE) invites all companies specialized in the construction of photovoltaic solar systems, both local, regional and national, to participate in a market study that aims to determine the costs to carry out the feasibility, design, layout, supply, installation and commissioning of Solar Photovoltaic Solutions -SSFV-interconnected to the network, without storage and of different capacities in the national territory.

This implementation is part of the Initiative «Energy Communities at the National Level” and the “Just Energy Transition”, with the purpose of: positively impacting beneficiary communities; create social cohesion and provide educational spaces on energy, climate and energy democracy.

The market study is part of the Project «Energy Communities: Democratizing energy in Colombia» which provides for the implementation of up to 300 Solar Photovoltaic Systems (SSFV) Centralized for organized vulnerable communities, which allow reducing the payment of energy service to the inhabitants of the community and the promotion of Energy Communities.

Furthermore, these initiatives can contribute to job creation, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and strengthening energy security in the country.

With these actions, FENOGE seeks to promote change towards more sustainable, equitable and participatory practices in the use and management of energy in all territories. The objective is to advance the democratization of energy, the incorporation of non-conventional energy sources, efficient energy management and the construction of energy communities in the national territory.
