Nicola Coughlan (Penelope Featherington in the third season of The Bridgertons) has spoken again about his body. This time in the form of a plea, with which he has denounced the lack of variety of bodies that appear in the films. “It’s hard because I think women with my body type, women with perfect breasts, we don’t see each other enough on the screen. I am very proud as a member of the perfect breasts community. I hope you enjoy watching them,” she expressed in response to a question from a journalist who praised his bravery on the big screen.
It is not the first time that the actress has spoken out about one of the most commented scenes on social networks (in the first part of episode five of the second season) in which she appears naked from the torso up. In fact, she herself confessed in an interview that she herself “specifically asked for certain lines and moments to be included.”
“There is a scene where I am very naked in front of the camera, and that was my idea, my choice. Simplyor I felt like a big ‘fuck you’‘ in all the conversation around my body; It was incredibly empowering,” the interpreter celebrated.
Coughlan has been receiving derogatory comments and insults about her body. In 2018, she wrote a column in The Guardian where she asked to be judged by her work and not by her looks. Four years later, in 2022, the situation did not change and she was forced to issue a harsh statement -already deleted- on Instagram.
“It’s really hard to bear the weight of thousands of opinions about your appearance that are sent directly to you every day,” lamented the actress. “If you have an opinion about my body, please don’t share it with me,” she stated, making it clear that the last thing she wanted was to continue receiving that type of comments.
Now, in Bridgerton 3, he has decided to take a new step forward and show herself naked in her most intimate scenes. Although at first he did not see it favorably, he ended up being convinced. The costume designers sent her home with a thong that she would wear on set and her reaction was quite the opposite. “I went to the bathroom and looked in the full-length mirror. I was like, ‘Of course not!’ I hid it at the bottom of the laundry basket. I thought, ‘How am I going to do this?'” she says.
But once they started shooting the sequences, everything was much easier than she thought. “At the end of the day, we were both lying under a blanket, with no clothes on, just relaxing. We thought, ‘That’s why nudists do it,'” she jokes. Part 2 of the third season of The Bridgertons premieres on Netflix June 13.
