Leo Caprile He had one of the biggest scares of his life just a few months ago. The entertainer suffered a cerebral stroke (cerebrovascular accident or CVA), which fortunately did not cause further damage, but which made him aware of the seriousness of the matter.

Since then, the driver has used his networks to generate an awareness campaign about this type of medical emergencies and even had a solidarity gesture with a stranger who also went through the same thing.

A few days after his medical problem, he received an invitation to participate in a recovery program using functional electrostimulation (FES) from the company TrainFES, who donated a treatment to speed up his post-stroke recovery.

However, Caprile, as he was not left with any after-effects or complications, He decided to give the treatment to a person he met near his home in Curacaví, who had had the same medical diagnosis, but, unlike him, had been left with several consequences, including serious problems walking.

“I was near my house in Curacaví and a man approached me calling me a colleague because of what happened with the stroke,” Caprile said.

The communicator thought that Don Juan Espinoza’s stroke had been recent, but the reality is that it had been like this for four years. “It left me upset to the point of returning me to the car. I cried thinking about what I was saved from. “I was ashamed to look at myself and at him so complicated.”he told Las Últimas Noticias.

“This person had significant consequences, so I wanted to give him the treatment offered by the company to support him and give him this powerful recovery tool,” recalled the radio host.

“Fortunately, I didn’t have to use the treatment, so I wanted to lend a hand to someone else in gratitude for my good post-stroke prognosis. “This is a second chance for me and my family,” said.

The treatment

The treatment that Juan will receive consists of a Neurorehabilitation with functional electrostimulation technology spanning six months.

Functional electrostimulation has different purposes. For example, it is suitable for treating motor recovery due to loss of functional movements.

“Motor weakness affects processes such as walking, showering, eating and various daily activities, which can be recovered in a shorter period of time with this type of therapy,” explains Moises Campos, General Manager of the neurorehabilitation and technological development company TrainFES.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), every year 15 million people suffer a Stroke, of which 5 million die and 5 million are left permanently with some type of disability.
