The cardiologist Carlos Díaz Vélez was re-elected today, April 21, as president of the School of Medical Surgeons of Puerto Rico, a position that he assumes under the slogan of having “done things well so far.”

In an exclusive talk with Revista MSP, after announcing an implacable defeat with preliminary data that indicates his victory with 85% of the total voters over the opponent and outgoing vice president, Dr. Alicia Feliberti, Dr. Díaz expressed joy, satisfaction and an even greater commitment to the referee and to the Puerto Ricans who today support another period of his mandate in front of one of the most important medical institutions in Puerto Rico.

Although the electoral scrutiny has not yet ended, the triumph of Dr. Díaz is more than evident, so much so that his opponent has already accepted defeat and wished success to the new president of the school. The interesting thing is that Dr. Díaz, according to data, has triumphed in all the electorally enabled regions, with a margin of almost 60% more than Dr. Feliberti.

A proud doctor, defender of great causes and committed to his school

Dr. Díaz is a graduate of the School of Medicine of the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) and completed his training practice at the Veterans Hospital, where he would later specialize in cardiology as well as internal medicine.

His presence in the public sector has been visible for more than 2 decades as he participated in the creation of the Office of the Patient Advocate, served in the Medical Examining Court, Medical Tourism Corporation and even aspired to be mayor of San Juan although only He was a legislator of this municipality.
