Antofagasta, Puente Alto, Talca, Lo Barnechea, among others: Servel rejects 12 candidates for municipal primaries

The Electoral Service (Servel) announced this Monday the decisions on the candidacies for the next primaries on June 9, resulting in the rejection of 12 candidacies throughout the country. This situation affects both the ruling party and the Christian Democracy (DC) now to Chile Let’s go, who had registered their electoral pacts.

Among the most notable cases is that of Patricio Flores, from the DC, in General Lagos, Arica and Parinacota Region. In the Metropolitan Region, specifically in Calera de Tango and in Independencia, the candidacies of Jacqueline Valenzuela (PC) and Rodrigo Barco (independent supported by Renovación Nacional) were rejected for not having their sworn statements signed correctly. In Lo Barnechea, in addition to the documentation problem, Andrea Araya was denied the candidacy for not proving having completed high school.

Other rejected applications

Besides, Claudio Hidalgo in Puente Alto, Carlos Cisterna in Santa Cruz, Javiera Carrera in Talca, Francisco Yévenes in Lebu and Leonel Figueroa in Quilleco faced rejections for reasons ranging from recent affiliation to political parties. to the lack of documents proving the required education.

Finally, in La Araucanía, the candidacies of Claudia Navarrete in Lautaro and Héctor Sáez in Renaico were also rejected, which could imply the absence of primaries in those locations if the decisions are final.
