Given the homicide of four women over the weekend in Valle del Cauca, the Government of Valle announced the activation of the Care Route for women victims of gender violence in Palmira, Cali and Buga.
Furthermore, the departmental administration rejected the events that occurred in these three locations.
Yurany Ordoñez, Secretary of Women, Gender Equality and Sexual Diversity said that “we categorically reject any act of violence against women and we have coordinated with the municipal liaisons and Mayor’s Offices to provide support to the families of these victims. “With the psychosocial team we are providing the emotional guidance that the families of these victims need.”

The Secretary of Women also recalled that Governor Dilian Francisca Toro activated the Code Pink, and expressed that “the women of Valle del Cauca are not alone, they can count on the prevention mechanism that the Government of Valle is carrying out, and we are also working in an articulated manner with the mayors’ offices, with managers from the Prosecutor’s Office specialized in gender.”
The departmental government is working with institutions, holding meetings with the Restorative Justice Committee, to protect women who are at risk of feminicide.
To date, the Gender Observatory of Valle del Cauca has recorded 30 intentional homicides, eight femicides, three to be classified including the one that occurred in the Palmira prison, and six cases of homicides of the LGBTI population have been presented.
