Through an interview that was broadcast on the program “To Whom It May Concern,” hosted by Daniel Enz, the official confirmed that Entre Ríos will not be present at the most important book fair in the country, which will take place from April 25 to April 13. May 2024 at the La Rural Fairgrounds.
The decision of the current management of the Entre Ríos government was justified by the amounts involved in installing the stand and the necessary logistics. The official explained: “I made this decision at the beginning of the administration, more or less in January or February, when we began to evaluate the calculation of expenses. We thought it was really excessive since the assembly of the stand costs around 50 million pesos.” Added to this was the delay in the delivery of the Fray Mocho awards that the province celebrates annually and, according to the official, the delay came from the previous administration.
However, the controversy arises from the statements made to, in the same program, the former director of the Editorial de Entre Ríos (EDER), the writer Ferny Kosiak. During the interview, the former official explained that the funds necessary for the installation of the stand at the renowned International Fair, which is celebrating its 48th edition, come from financing from the Federal Investment Council (CFI). The former director of the EDER explained on RADIO PLAZA that this interstate organization covers expenses through the timely presentation of projects.
The CFI’s mission is to “Promote the comprehensive development of the country by improving the quality of life of its inhabitants through permanent research, coordination and advice for an adequate investment policy and better use of economic means in each region, maintaining a “firm commitment to participatory, inclusive and sustainable guidelines.”
When asked by journalists, Fabián Reato admitted that the project for the participation of Entre Ríos in the Buenos Aires Book Fair was not presented. Given this response, the questions multiplied and the justification for why the project was not presented in a timely manner. The current official explained that the decision was made together with the governor, intending to allocate that money to holding traveling book fairs throughout the territory. provincial.
The truth is that the official could not explain any CFI guidelines that prevent the presentation of two simultaneous projects, but he did admit the importance of this globally recognized fair for the dissemination of literary production in our province.
Although the justifications still do not add up, the result is the same: the province of Entre Ríos will not participate in the 48th Buenos Aires International Book Fair and Entre Ríos writers will not have a space to make their books known internationally. Whether traveling fairs will be held in the province with CFI funds, it is not yet known, since the official could not disclose their schedule either. (Analysis)
