After the meeting, the president of the Fecier, Pablo Molo, commented on the topics addressed during the meeting, which he described as “very productive. The governor and his team have committed to giving us a hand and getting us to work side by side. The In truth, we are very happy with the response we had,” he remarked.

In reference to the regulations that require updating, Molo pointed out that they want to “organize citrus farming. It is a claim that we have been making since previous governments and we have not been able to do it. Now, with Rogelio Frigerio and his team, we hope to be able to do it, so that Let’s be transparent and work in an orderly manner.”

In addition to the provincial citrus law, the need to have new legislative tools in labor and agricultural practice was raised. In this matter, an exchange was held during the meeting with the provincial deputy Gabriela Lena.

Regarding the fruit fly, he considered it to be a “big problem” and mentioned that in the previous season between 30 and 35 percent of the harvest was lost due to this issue. “We don’t want to lose again this coming season and that’s why we ask for the support of the province to give us a hand,” he said.

The president of Fecier also commented that they have an invitation to visit Mendoza to learn about the way in which the producers of that province have been working on this issue, since they have successful experience. He also assured that they hope to carry out joint work with the province of Corrientes to “free us from this problem that in recent years made us lose a lot of money.”

The last citrus census was carried out during the 2015/2016 campaign, which is why it would be of vital importance for the sector, since it will allow for updated information.
