Get to know the three communes that will compete in the qualifying phase.

This Saturday, April 27, the Copa Chile 2024 will begin, a national soccer tournament that brings together teams from the First Division, First B, Second and Third Division A and B, as well as regional teams from the National Amateur Soccer Association (Anfa).

In the Aysén Region, Deportivo Halcones de Coyhaique, the Club Deportivo Colo Colo de Chile Chico and the Club Alas Portuarias de Puerto Aysén, will participate in a triangular qualifying round to qualify for the regional phase of the contest, which will be held at the Municipal Stadium from Coyhaique.

The Alas Portuarias Club and the Colo Colo Sports Club of Chile Chico will be in charge of opening the qualifying triangle.

The teams from the region competed in the championships corresponding to their communes and when they emerged champions they were eligible for this qualifying phase. In the case of the Colo Colo Sports Club of Chile Chico, according to its technical director, Eladio Haro, they will participate instead of the Chile Chico Social and Sports Club, who had won, but will not be able to attend.

The qualifying dream

The technical director of the Alas Portuarias Club, Jorge Álvarez and the captain of Deportivo Halcones, Matías Barrías, spoke with Aysén Regional Newspaper, about the qualifying phase.

For the technical director of the Alas Portuarias Club, Jorge Álvarez, it is a dream to qualify for the regional phase of the tournament.

“We have the dream of trying to play with a professional Chilean soccer team. The idea is to play a good role, perhaps give a surprise and leave the name of the region in a good light,” he said. Alvarez.

For his part, the captain of Deportivo Halcones, Matías Barría, invited the entire community to go to the stadium to watch the matches.

“We invite everyone to be part of this beautiful process that is going to come, it is going to be very hard fought because we all want to win and we are all going to give our best. It’s going to be a nice weekend of sports and something historic,” said the team captain.

It should be remembered that the last qualifying phase that was played in the region was on March 8, 2023, where Liga Universitaria de Coyhaique was defeated on penalties after drawing one-on-one with Club Deportivo Bories de Puerto Natales.
