The General Director of Environmental Health, engineer Leandro Medina Barrionuevo, provided details about the activity that was carried out on Avenida América and Corrientes.
During the operation, the General Directorate of Environmental Health worked together with socio-sanitary agents and health promoters from El Estado en tu Barrio, as well as with the Environmental Health Vector Control Brigade: “Visits are being made to all homes, searching people with symptoms to leave them some recommendations, repellents, inform them which health services are closest to their home and insist that they do not stop attending if symptoms alert them.”
Also, he added Medina Barrionuevo, an inspection is carried out with the proper authorization of the owner of the home, the open spaces are visited, looking for any container that may be accumulating water and that therefore serves for the Aedes Aegypti mosquito to reproduce: “Those containers, once that are identified, are neutralized. On this occasion we were not able to do the chemical spraying because the weather conditions do not allow it, it is not recommended to do fumigation if there is rain.”
Following this line, the reference emphasized that, despite the drop in temperature that we are going through, preventive measures should not be neglected, since an even greater drop is needed that persists for several days: “Currently, due to the environmental conditions, the mosquito is surely inside the home, so it is important to reinforce personal care, the use of repellent, place tulle in cars and babies’ cribs, try to keep the windows closed so that it does not enter from the outside and continue with the use of aerosols or spirals to help reduce the load of mosquitoes that may be in homes.”
