After a reinforcement of security measures, this April 26, the first regional recognition hearing in which ten former commanders of the former Central Joint Command (CCC) will publicly acknowledge before their victims and before the entire country their responsibility for kidnappings committed in Huila, Tolima and Quindío.

This hearing comes after the JEP charged them in June 2023 with war crimes of hostage-taking, homicide and attacks on personal dignity, as well as cruel and inhuman treatment. Also for crimes against humanity of murder, forced disappearance, slavery, sexual violence, torture and other inhuman acts.

According to the investigation of the JEP Recognition Room, The CCC is responsible for at least 64 kidnappings, although in the case in total there are 155 accredited victims, including the families of the 64 direct victims.

Although this Command was one of the ones that committed the fewest kidnappings, among all the FARC structures, for the JEP this investigation is key for several reasons: first, because The financial kidnapping model they implemented was so successful that it was copied by other structures; second, because the Tolima region is considered the organizational epicenter and perhaps the most important symbolic reference in the history of the FARC since it was in the south of Tolima and the north of Huila where the FARC emerged.

And third, because in the area there is an important geographical corridor, which has now been reactivated by the FARC dissidents, which connects with Caquetá and Valle del Cauca and which has historically been relevant for the mobility of irregulars, and was a controlled area. by the 21st Front of the FARC.

Now, from this procedure in Ibagué, ten former CCC commanders will speak about their crimes as part of the JEP’s truth recognition process.
