Starting this Friday, Mendoza residents will face a new economic setback with an increase in the price of bread, which averages 13% more in all bakeries. The determination of the increase comes from the Association of Industrialists and Bakers, who explain that it is mainly due to the increase in the cost of inputs such as flour, as well as increases in electricity and gas rates.

The bakeries will adjust the price of a kilogram of bread to $1,920, a dozen pancakes to $3,345 and a dozen common invoices to $4,860.

According to Cristian Di Betta, president of the Chamber of Bakers of Mendoza, in the last 15 days, the price of a bag of flour has increased up to $500, even reaching $800 in some areas. In addition, fuels have experienced four increases since the last adjustment in the prices of baked goods.

The largest increase, according to Di Betta, is recorded in electricity and gas rates, essential services for this type of business.

Di Betta also noted a significant drop in bakery sales, estimating an average decline of 40% to 45% so far this year. It should be remembered that by May 2023, the prices of baked goods had already increased five times, and this new adjustment represents the second increase since then.
