“About some months ago, As we have reported from the Colombian Geological Service, the activity of the Puracé volcano has been gradually increasing. Due to this, it was decided to change the alert status of the Puracé volcano from yellow to orange,” they reported in X.

The Puracé volcano, which is located in the department of Cauca, It has an area of ​​influence of diverse populations such as indigenous and peasant communities that are mostly located near the place; For this reason, the SGC gave a series of recommendations for those near the site.

“It is recommended to The community in general does not approach the crater area, since with the current level of activity of the Puracé volcano, se is at great risk of being affected by gases or ash emissions that may occur suddenly,” the SGC said.

Why did the activity of the Puracé volcano increase?
