In an abbreviated trial held this Friday, Julio César Chena, 24, was sentenced to spend 3 years in the Chimbas Prison, after being arrested in the middle of a gang robbery. The criminal accepted guilt and his lawyer established an agreement with the prosecution, so that he was sentenced for the crime of aggravated robbery for being in a town and in a gang.
As for the details of what happened, the Public Prosecutor’s Office stated that everything happened on April 12, on Belgrano Street, passing Entre Ríos, in the Capital. There, a surgeon was approached by two criminals and they threatened to hit him with a “butt” (SIC). In this way they obtained his cell phone, the key to his car, a bag with banking documentation, such as credit and debit cards, and various personal information. Likewise, they took away his ID, credential and doctor’s stamps.
When they escaped, they did so aboard a vehicle, with a driver who was waiting for them to flee the area. However, the victim was able to see the face of one of the assailants and they located him because he had gone several times to a store where he bought with the doctor’s credit and debit cards.
Upon noticing the movements, they checked the security cameras and identified one of the criminals. Given this, the UFI Crimes Against Property, headed by prosecutor Cristian Gerarduzzi, initiated actions and the authorities were able to seize some clothing items that Chena used when making purchases.
The subject, already detained, was subjected to the detention formalization hearing on April 26 and ended up being recognized by the victim. Therefore, in the face of all the compelling evidence, Chena was convicted this Friday. The criminal had no choice but to accept guilt and they reached an abbreviated trial agreement.
In this context, they sentenced him to 3 years of effective prison, having to serve the sentence in the Provincial Penitentiary Service.
