The Minister of the Interior, Guillermo Francos, expressed his confidence that the Senate will approve both the Base Law and the Fiscal Package in the terms voted by the Chamber of Deputies. However, he also stressed that possible modifications to the original text should not be considered cause for alarm.

“We have faith in each other, totally,” said Francos regarding the treatment of libertarian initiatives in the upper house. In statements to radio media, the official highlighted that he is in dialogue with all the governors, emphasizing that the law is relevant for the provinces, since it promotes investment and employment, in addition to addressing aspects related to shared resources.

“We are talking with all the governors” and pointed out that for the provincial leaders, “except for those who have a very ideological bias, such as Axel Kicillof from Buenos Aires, and some others, the law is important, because it deals with a series of norms, not only because of the shared resources, but because investment is promoted and it is an opportunity to generate work,” said the official.

Francos emphasized that, although the Government hopes to sign the May Pact with both laws approved, its main objective is to implement regulations that could have a positive impact on the country’s economy.

“If there are modifications, they will have to be discussed again in Deputies. We do not have to dramatize the issue so much,” said the minister, ensuring that they will work with any changes proposed by the Senate.

Finally, the Minister of the Interior ratified the call to sign the May Pact, as he explained that “it is based on the intention or idea of confirming many principles that are established in the Constitution and that are not reflected in the activity everyday economy.
