The Carlos Patiño structure of the FARC dissidents claimed, in the last few hours, the lives of three soldiers from the troops of the Rapid Deployment Force No. 4 of the National Army. The fighting occurs in a rural area of ​​Algeria (Cauca), in sustained crossfire that has also left three guerrillas dead.

The soldiers who have died as a result of the confrontations are the professional soldiers Jorge David Fuentes, a native of Valledupar (Cesar); Javier Sosa Ballesteros, from La Mesa (Cundinamarca); and Camilo Andrés Molina, from Galeras (Sucre).

“As a result of these events, three more professional soldiers were injured, who are stable and will be evacuated from the area to receive specialized medical care,” explained the Specific Command of Cauca, a unit of the Third Division of the Army.

The current fighting is due to previous results of the Army in the region. On May 2, the authorities reported the death of three dissidents and, a day later, the capture in flagrante delicto of five more subversives, from whom weapons, explosives and ammunition were seized.

When the Army tried to remove the captured guerrillas from the area, they were attacked from different points. Likewise, these units are working to achieve the return of more than 400 displaced people from the Bolivia, San Juan del Cucho and San Juan de Guadua villages.
