The Rioja has experienced an increasing predilection towards civil marriage, since currently, approximately 8 out of every 10 weddings that take place in the community are civil.
According to data revealed by the recent study ‘Marriages in Spain’, carried out by the TBS Education-Barcelona business school, civil marriages represented 61% in 2013, a figure that has increased to 81% in 2022.
