The Gaula Militar Huila, an elite unit of the Ninth Brigade, commemorates its twenty-fifth anniversary since its founding in 1999. Established by the Presidential Program for the Defense of Personal Freedom, through resolution No. 027 of May 4 of that year , this specialized group’s main objective is to protect the civilian population of the department of Huila against the crimes of extortion and kidnapping.
With more than 66 highly trained and qualified men, the Military Gaula Huila has jurisdiction over 37 municipalities in the department of Huila. Since its activation, it has been a key player in the fight against organized crime in the region, managing to significantly reduce these crimes and generating an environment of security for the inhabitants, including businessmen, ranchers, farmers and professionals from various areas.

During the year 2024, the Gaula Militar Huila has obtained notable results in its work. This includes the death in the course of military operations of three individuals, including the financial leader of the Darío Gutiérrez Front of the Central General Staff, known as alias “Chuky.” In addition, they have made 13 arrests for extortion, six arrests for kidnapping and 30 arrests for other crimes, demonstrating their effectiveness and constant commitment in the fight against crime in the region.
This anniversary is an occasion to highlight the importance and impact of the work of the Gaula Militar Huila on the safety and protection of the Huila community.
