“Patagonians will vote against the Income Tax,” said Ignacio Torres

In the prelude to the debate on the draft Base Law and Fiscal Package that will take place this Tuesday in a plenary session of three commissions in the Senate, the governor of Chubut, Ignacio Torres, once again expressed his disagreement with Javier Milei regarding the Base Law and ensured that the Patagonian senators rejected the reinstatement of the Income Tax.

«There is a dilemma with profits that could have been resolved. For us, a large investment regime is important. There are many investments that are held back precisely by this uncertainty generated by the non-treatment of the law. There are many points that we highlight in favor, but we are going to vote against them,” said Torres.

In this sense, he announced how the senators of Patagonia will vote. «We Patagonians asked that the unfavorable area item be included in the taxable minimum, something as simple as contemplating that the cost of living is higher. “If the measure is rolled back, there are doctors who would leave the province, for example,” the governor explained.

Torres argued that the adjustment “It does not have a representative fiscal cost for the government and is an act of injustice for the provinces “that contribute the most in terms of profit in the fourth category in relation to the rest of the country.”

«There are 18 votes against, the rest support. What we have to see is if they are modified and the law returns to deputies in full. or only that article, or if it is modified in the regulations,” he added.

«Beyond the personal, I believe that the Argentine leadership has to be mature enough to separate party dogmas from personal issues from what is important and good for Argentina, and in my case, for the interests of my province.

«I see a lot of meanness from a part of the political carrion that wants to build power based on the other doing poorly, nothing more than that. There is no fine analysis of whether something is useful or not, there are many things that are good and there are many others that are being neglected.«commented the governor.

«Argentina needs foreign currency. How are we going to export if we do not have proper deep water ports. The national routes are a disaster. So, we, the provinces, are taking charge of these works,” Torres concluded.
