Maicao, Manaure and Uribia define agenda to activate port area

This is the team that works jointly on the port agenda that benefits Maicao, Manaure and Uribia.

With the purpose of promoting the modernization of the port organization in La Guajira, more specifically in the area of new Portthe governments of Maicao, Manaure and Uribia made an important work table at the request of the directors of Pensoport.

The meeting considered by its protagonists as successful was led by the mayor of Maicao, Miguel Felipe Aragón Gonzales and his secretary of economic development, the public accountant Edwin Solano García.

In Solano García’s opinion, the central theme of the agenda was to promote the modernization and updating of Puerto Nuevo, with the purpose of exploring all the most competitive channels in the export scenario of Colombia and the world.

The event was attended by, among others, William Iguaran, secretary of productivity and environment and José González, Secretary of Tourism of Uribia. Yorgelis Martínezuniversity professional from the Manaure Planning Office; Nurys Guerra and Fernando Ríos representing Pensoport or the maritime port unit of La Guajira, as well as Dr. Ingrid Diaz Arrieta director of the University of La Guajira, Maicao campus.

Solano García told this digital medium that, among the conclusions, it was achieved, among other things, within the agenda of the three municipalities belonging to the Special Customs Regime Zone, to determine the need to unite administrative efforts aimed at overcoming the shortcomings in the port area.

Likewise, the task of advancing a regional and national agenda that guarantees the participation of President Gustavo Petro Urrego in an active and permanent manner in the purposes of the municipalities in question was planned.
